Medivet Horncastle is part of the Medivet group and sees a mix of routine and more involved cases for cats, dogs, rabbits and other small mammals. The clinic advertises 15‑minute consultations, nurse clinics and in-house diagnostics (laboratory, X‑ray and ultrasound), with out‑of‑hours care provided by Vets Now (as stated on the practice website).
From the latest reviews, owners repeatedly mention pets being settled at the clinic (including a dog staying in for the day after an operation) and staff using practical touches like greeting pets with treats. One recent review sharply conflicts with this overall tone, alleging a major last‑minute change to an estimated cost for a tail amputation.

Great team at Horncastle, our boy Olly spent the day there and didn't want to leave! He had the most amazing care after his operation

Caring staff who look after the wellbeing of our pets

Avoid Medivet Horncastle at all costs. We brought our cocker spaniel in for a tail issue. After initial treatment failed, my husband was told a tail amputation was necessary and quoted £800. He signed the consent forms based on that. Minutes later, staff casually informed him the price had jumped to £1800 — a 125% increase with no warning, no explanation, and no accountability. This bait-and-switch approach is not just unethical it’s emotionally manipulative and financially reckless. We were left shocked, distressed, and scrambling for answers while our dog was in pain. If you value transparency, professionalism, or basic decency, do not trust Medivet Horncastle with your pet’s care. We’re raising a formal complaint and expect this to be escalated. But in the meantime, consider this a warning: they will quote one price, then demand another. Safe to say our dog will be getting treatment elsewhere with the op scheduled for tomorrow, and none of us, our family, or animals will ever return to Medivet.

I cannot fault this practice. From the minute you walk in both us and our animals are greeted with smiles. Always a treat or two for the furry ones too. As for the vets they are so kind and compassionate and I couldn’t wish for anyone better to look after our four legged friends. Keep up the great work!

So far, I am super happy with this Vet practice - I was so impressed I moved over. A warm welcome from the staff, treats for the pups, well-kept notes ensuring good communication and vets who listen well and work hard to ensure your pet is pain-free and looked after well.

We were there this time for our dogs 6mthly Mot!! He never minds going to see the vet and we are always treated with respect and consideration. The practice is one of the best and friendliest we have been to.

We had to take our lovely cat, as an emergency, to Medivet when she started breathing very heavily. The staff there were so lovely, kind and caring, especially as she , very sadly, died not long after we arrived. They couldn't have been more understanding in such horrible circumstances. I highly recommend them.
