Staff were both very professional and caring

Last year, I had been struggling with where to take our dogs, their previous vets were extortionately priced and the one I trialled just didn't seem to care - our dog was having "seizures" and I still hadn't heard anything from her previous vets about her blood test after 15 days...not a single call, and anytime I rang, they were always rude (a year later, they still have never rung back). Several friends of mine who live nearer to Thurlby suggested Animates for their outstanding care (in fact, one friend no longer had animals, but still remembered and recommended Thurlby's phenomenal care 12 years later!). Having heard these glowing reviews and concerned that our dog was almost 11 and had never experienced seizures before, I decided to try Animates at Thurlby for a second opinion. They took her blood right away, and I received the results by the time I got home (40 minutes later!). They went absolutely above and beyond for her, finding the problem with some help from a specialist in America (it's quite a common condition in border terriers: CECS!). Their help and dedication saved us £5000 that our previous vet wanted for an MRI (after doing no other tests), and in the long term, all it took was a diet change to help our dogs out. For our dog's health and so we didn't have to spend a fortune for no reason, Thurlby started from the beginning and found the problem almost immediately. Both of our dogs have been there for around a year now, and we've not had a single bad encounter or unfair bill. We have only had to go to an emergency appointment once before, but again, the staff were absolutely fantastic, keeping us updated and reassuring us throughout. Our dogs used to quiver with anxiety the moment we walked into a vet, but everyone is so friendly here, they don't seem to notice at all (pictures of our boy happily sat in the waiting room and our girl being picked up from her dental op, having been spoiled by the staff with cuddles and chicken!). It seems like a low bar to expect veterinary staff to care about animals more than money, but lately, there doesn't seem to be many practices where that feels true. At Animates Thurlby, there's no doubt whatsoever; I genuinely have no complaints. All the staff are exceptional, questions that I've left at reception have been responded to within hours, and (where appropriate) vets have even rung me direct about our dogs ongoing case, being sensitive to me living 40 minutes away and not needing to go in for a 5 minute update - in my opinion, 40 minutes is nothing in exchange for the incredible service we've gotten. Our dogs genuinely have a new lease of life since coming here, thank you, Animates Thurlby, from all of us 🐶💙🐶❤️

Excellent practice all the receptionists, Nurses and Vets are very friendly and professional. The Vet was very caring and explained in full the need for further investigations. The price was given prior to deciding so no hidden extras. Thank you to all the staff. Would strongly recommend Animates.

We so so happy wonderful doctor, he found my dogs pain. In a first evening she was active and live again, we still on medication, very good clinic, very professional doctors thank you so much

The nurse was very kind and caring. Beth is elderly and extremely nervous and the nurse gave her treats to calm her down. Animates have been wonderful in treating her over the last year. They go above and beyond. Thank you to everyone
